In 2017, when a photographer who just happened to be waiting outside a Manhattan restaurant captured Rupert Murdoch reuniting with ex-wife Wendi, in the midst of giving him an unexpected hug, Murdoch’s strained facial reaction spoke volumes (He would later tell an associate he felt his ex-wife had tipped off the paparazzi to the meeting.) 

Murdoch had just married Jerry Hall. He and Wendi had been divorced for four years (after a marriage of 14 years and two children, Grace and Chloe) and the two showed no signs of rekindling a closeness.
