In tonight’s edition, it would appear that President Donald Trump has chosen the next target in his war to eradicate late-night talk show hosts. After a joke by Jimmy Kimmel didn’t go down well with Donald and Melania, they both called for his sacking. Ahead of the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, Breaker spoke with FCC chair Brendan Carr, who gave us a blunt insight into which network is on his “shit list.”
Also, tonight, we highlight fresh security lapses at the White House Correspondents' dinner and the latest from the New York Times bargaining negotiations, where remote work options are still top of mind.
Finally, we have a photo special report from our WHC weekend in D.C. See which party asked us to leave the Breaker fedora at the door, which Puck writers stopped us for a chinwag, and you’ll never guess which politician said Breaker was "straight out of central casting,” which we hope is a compliment.
Mentioned tonight: Bari Weiss, Shayndi Raice, Tom Cibrowski, Ronan Farrow, Sam Altman, Elon Musk, Lachlan Murdoch, Pete Doocy, Mathias Döpfner, Jeff Bezos, Gerry Cardinale, Graydon Carter, Stephen Colbert, Brendan Carr, Jimmy Kimmel, Michael Glantz, Tammy Haddad, John Harris, Jonathan Greenberger, Alex Burns, Tyler Denk, Preeya Goenka, Jon Kelly, Peter Hamby, Dylan Byers, Steve Thomma, Jon Passantino, Oliver Darcy, Elise Shae, Natalie Korach, Jeremy Barr, Sara Fischer, John Koblin, Max Tcheyan, Erik Wemple, Anna Nicolaou, Eva Xiao, Lauren Hirsch, Benjamin Mullin, Esther Addley, Jessica Toonkel, Joe Flint, Mark Sweney, Maxi Tani, Chang Che, Christiana Sciaudone, Jessica Testa, Nicole Sperling, Oprah Winfrey, Tom Dolton, Susan DeCarava, Dana Stewart, Sasha Duckworth, and more.
Carr Alarm
(Exclusive.) On his Monday night show, Jimmy Kimmel responded to Donald and Melania Trump’s call for him to be sacked over a joke made on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” last week.
During a mock White House Correspondents’ dinner, Kimmel says jokingly, “Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.” The gag was delivered before the events that occurred at the actual White House Correspondents' dinner on Saturday.
“It was not by any stretch of the definition a call to assassination, and they know that.” Kimmel told his live audience on Monday, “I’ve been very vocal for many years, speaking out against gun violence in particular.”
It’s another punch thrown in the increasingly tense relationship between the Trump administration and ABC, along with parent company Disney.
On Saturday at the Fox News pre-party, Breaker asked FCC chair Brendan Carr which network would be the biggest target of Donald Trump’s speech. “ABC and Disney are on the …

The Breaker Pod With Graydon Carter: Christopher Hitchens Doc Project and London Restaurant Plans
This week, Breaker sat down with legendary editor Graydon Carter for the latest episode of the Breaker Pod. Recorded live this week from Bartolo in the West Village (cheers to Chef and Owner Ryan Bartolo and team at the Terracotta Hospitality Group for inviting us down.)
A veteran who’s seen it all, Carter raised concerns about the future of major outlets like The Washington Post under Jeff Bezos, even floating a potential buyer for WaPo: RedBird Capital’s Gerry Cardinale, who he believes “would be a great custodian.”
Carter also dipped into some incredible behind-the-scenes moments from his tenure, including a call from Ivanka Trump attempting to kill a story about Trump University.
And when it came to the sale of Carter's Air Mail to Puck (a scoop broken by Breaker), he was blunt about how and why the deal came together. Carter also teased a couple of new projects he was working on, including a restaurant across the pond and a doc about the writer Christopher Hitchens.

Times on the Clock
(Exclusive.) The New York Times Guild was back at the bargaining table on Monday as they pushed forward to secure their five key priorities, including flexibility for remote work options, as part of their new bargaining agreement.
As it stands, The New York Times has offered to sunset remote work guarantees in 2027, which Andy Gutterman, Times Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, says was "an effort at compromise." After being peppered with questions about the benefits of in-office work, Times management, according to the Guild, replied: “We think people work better when they’re together.”
Returning to negotiations this week, the Guild came armed with testimonials from employees explaining their own individual situations and why remote work is so important to them.
"Late last year, the NYT, seemingly arbitrarily, told me I needed to …
