(Exclusive.) Later this month, The New York Times business desk will gather at a midtown rooftop bar to bid farewell to their beloved editor, Ellen Pollock, who, as Breaker first reported in July, is stepping aside as BizDay editor.
While Pollock’s new position at The Gray Lady is yet to be announced, reporters are anxiously awaiting an announcement on who will next lead the section.
After Pollock’s position was advertised last month (Seeking someone with a strong news metabolism and a record of motivating reporters to break consequential stories and produce competitive coverage with a salary of $240,000 - $285,000), the Times began seriously considering external candidates. Around 20 candidates have now been whittled down to a shortlist of around 5.
