
(Exclusive.) Looking very much like D.C. journalism’s version of The Avengers, Ryan Lizza (complete in camouflage shirt), Tara Palmeri, Eugene Daniels, and Rachael Bade posed for a splashy Vanity Fair feature.
It was January 2021, and the latest iteration of Politico’s Playbook team was taking form. Jake Sherman and Anna Palmer had defected to start Punchbowl, and for the first time ever, Playbook would now have four authors.
Now four years on, Daniels (MSNBC), Lizza (Telos News), Palmeri (The Red Letter), and now Bade have departed Politico.
Bade’s exit was set in motion after Breaker first reported that a podcast she was set to host for Politico, “The Conversation,” had been cancelled by her.
Bade, who declined to comment, had turned down a lucrative offer from Puck last year to stay at Politico. Part of Politico’s counter was the offer of the podcast.
